Plugins with seismic formats are used by other modules. Loading seismic data directly from the file is performed by the waveform reading module (see Reading seismic records from a file). It goes through all plug-ins with seismic formats and joins the selection list. These plug-ins are also used in other modules, e.g. for reading data from ArcLink.
Each module of seismic formats is designed to read a specific format of the seismic record. It performs two functions: recognizing or verifying the format and reading waveforms saved in a given format to the program memory. Each seismic module and format provides the loading of samples, determination of their sampling time and frequency, channel name, parameters, and scaling of samples to physical quantities.
