Basic information
- Affiliation confirms User’s association with polish scientific institution.
- Affiliation is required to get access to PLGrid Infrastructure's resources. It is regulated by terms and conditions.
- User can have more than one affiliation.
- Affiliations have due dates. Before ends due date, User must apply for extension/continuation an affiliation.
- User with verified association with polish scientific institution automatically obtained a Supervisor's role. Supervisor can cooperate with subordinates (students or other people who are not associated with polish scientific institution).
- Supervisor is obligated to manage of subordinate's affiliations. Supervisor should deactivate accounts of users with whom cooperation have been terminated.
- User obtains the trial work group/work team after confirmation and activation the first affiliation. The trial work group has following parameters:
ID: plgt-[the rest part of login], where [the rest part of login] is a login starting with "plg".
Only academic employees and their subordinates (students, PhD students) are authorized to having access to PLGrid resources. To get that authorization User must provide an information about association with polish scientific institution or cooperates with polish scientist. User is obligated to using resources only for researches conducting at the Polish scientific institution.
Types of affiliation
User can apply for one of two affiliation types.
- Academic Employee who have status as SUPERVISOR (Pracownik jednostki naukowej)
Students, PhD students, foreigner scientist whom have status SUBORDINATE. (Podopieczny pracownika jednostki naukowej)
Apply for affiliation
1. Choose an affiliation type
To apply for affiliation User needs to go to AFILIACJE menu.
Widok "Moje afiliacje"
"Afiliacje" menu basis on an overview for all Users' affiliations with information about their status and due dates. To show an affiliation details click on "Szczegóły".
2. Create new affiliation
Click on green button “Dodaj”, the application form will show up. User should define an affiliation type.

3. Fill the form
Fill the form using following template

| Jednostka/Unit/Institution | Institution name and its departments. In Poland Academics Institution ha have many departments. User can use accordion list and add then in following order:

| E-mail adress | Email address with official academic domain. This information will be confirmed by operation team stuff. |
| Fields of science | Define User’s field of science |
| Due date/Data weryfikacji afiliacji - Ważna do... | System set up a default due date: - 5 years - for Academic Employee - 6 months - for Subordinate. User can provide shorter due date When the due date is close to expiry User should extend an affiliation. |
| Affiliation name | Individual affiliation name, visible only for User. |
WAŻNE
If there is no record with scientific institution where User is associated, there is a possibility to add new record which must be verified by PLGrid operation stuff. Application with only one unit will be rejected.

4. Send an affiliation
Sebd filled form using option: "Wyślij afiliację do weryfikacji".
Affiliation requires confirmation by Operation stuff. It could take 3 working days.
